Warning and disclaimer

This is the same text the app shows under Read the full warning and in Settings, and the same text published at divekit.app/safety.

Dive Kit is a tool for reference, learning and experimenting with dive plans. That covers every part of it: the decompression planner, gas blending, best mix, gas usage, breathing rate, buoyancy and weighting, conversions, shared plans and the AI connector. It is not a dive computer, not a substitute for training, and not medical advice.

Its results come from published research models and our own software. Both can be wrong. The models simplify human physiology, and the research behind them makes no promise of safety: divers have been bent on schedules that followed the model exactly. Software has bugs. We cross-check Dive Kit against other tools and publish the results, and we list known defects in the public changelog. Agreement between tools shows the arithmetic matches. It does not show that a plan, mix or fill is safe.

Use Dive Kit only for dives and gas work you are trained and certified to do. The decompression planner is for divers trained in decompression diving by a recognised agency. Gas blending is for trained blenders. If you are not trained for it, do not use Dive Kit to plan it.

Check every input. Analyse every gas. Compare every result with a second source. Dive the more conservative of your plan and your dive computer. The decision to dive, and the responsibility for it, are yours.

Dive Kit labels some results with words like Safe, Caution and Unsafe, and its help text may call a gas “safe there” or a setting “more accurate”. These words describe a calculation, not your safety in the water. “Safe” means a calculated value is within a threshold: a commonly published limit, or one you set yourself. It does not mean the dive, mix or fill is safe for you. “Caution” and “Unsafe” mean the value is near or beyond that threshold.

Dive Kit is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, and you use it at your own risk. To the fullest extent the law allows, we accept no liability for any outcome of using it. The full terms are in the Terms of Use.

What Dive Kit does not do

Dive Kit does not track your depth, time or tissue loading in the water, and it gives no guidance during a dive. It does not provide medical advice, emergency procedures, equipment maintenance guidance or real-time conditions.

A result reflects exactly the gases, depths, rates and settings you entered. A single wrong oxygen percentage, depth or unit can produce a schedule, mix or fill that looks fine and is not. A result with no warnings is not a clearance to dive it. Every result screen carries the same reminder: reference only, not a dive computer, check every result against a second source.

The checks that stay with you

  • Dive and blend within your training. Do not plan dives or gas work beyond your certification or experience.
  • Analyse your gas. Confirm every cylinder’s oxygen and helium content yourself, and its maximum operating depth (MOD) and switch depth.
  • Check the plan’s settings. Gradient factors, ascent and descent rates, PPO₂ limits and gas reserves should be the ones you intend to dive.
  • Carry redundancy. Bring redundant gas and a backup timing device, and have an emergency plan you and your buddy both know.
  • Follow the most conservative source. When your computer, your team’s plan and your own judgement disagree, follow the most conservative of them.

Consult a qualified diving physician before diving, especially with any medical condition, and assess weather, visibility and current yourself before every dive.

Your agreement

Dive Kit asks you to accept the warning and disclaimer before you use it. The last onboarding screen shows a summary with a link to the full text, and you tick “I have read and agree to the Terms of Use and the Warning and disclaimer” before you continue. Both are links to the full documents.

The acceptance is versioned. When the warning changes in substance, Dive Kit shows it again on the next launch, on its own and without the rest of onboarding, and the app stays closed until you accept the new version. The app records which version you accepted and when. If you leave usage analytics on (Settings, Privacy & Legal), the acceptance is also sent to Dive Kit’s analytics with the version, the time, the app version, the platform and the app language.

You can re-read the full warning any time: open Settings, go to Privacy & Legal, and tap Review Safety Disclaimer.
